Granger – Early this evening, Granger Councilmember Judi Montes shared a social media post announcing her resignation from the city council effective immediately. Titled “A Personal Message to the Residents of Granger,” Montes said, “After much thought and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to resign…while personal reasons have contributed to my decision, I also cannot ignore my growing loss of confidence in the current direction of our city’s leadership.”
Montes was first elected to the city council in 2023 with nearly 63% of the vote. Her 4-year term would have concluded at the end of 2027. She has resided in Granger since she was a child, an active member of the Lions Club, the school district and past member of Radio KDNA.
In her message, she added, “I sincerely hope that moving forward, our city leadership can find common ground, strengthen relationships, rebuild public trust, and remember that serving the people should always come before personal differences.”
The Granger Council meets tonight at 6pm for their regularly scheduled workshop and at 7pm for the council meeting. This week, the Council will also meet on October 14 and 15 to discuss the city budget.
This is a developing story.
